Newport Beach, CA, January 16, 2023 (PRWeb) -- Bulzi Inc, a geospatial intelligence technology company, announced today that it was selected for the Army’s Commercial Solutions Opening (CSO) solicitation focused on identifying and developing next-generation technology for the “Installation of the Future.” The solicitation was issued by the Army’s Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL).
Bulzi’s Internet-of-Things (IoT) solution leverages multi-modal signals and advanced Machine Learning (ML) technologies to identify, classify, and geolocate a wide range of objects in an area of interest. The sensors can be used to support multiple Installation mission needs, including access control, emergency response, and Digital Twin creation.
“Smart IoT sensors are required to build Smart Installations,” said Brent McKay, Chief Executive Officer of Bulzi. “Over the last few years, IoT technologies and machine learning have advanced the art of possible. This multi-modal sensor project represents a new level of machine intelligence that can support building smarter Installations which protect people and assets from a wide range of threats.”
About the Army ERDC
The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) is an integral component of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering and helps solve our Nation’s most challenging problems in civil and military engineering, geospatial sciences, water resources, and environmental sciences for the Army, Department of Defense, civilian agencies, and our Nation’s public good.
About Bulzi (Pronounced “Bull’s-Eye”)
Bulzi LLC is a leader in the geospatial intelligence industry, leveragingInternet-of-Things (IoT) and Geolocation data to help manage people and thingsin areas of interest. Headquartered in Newport Beach, California, the companypioneered the use of mobile phone signal data for measuring audiences in thecommercial outdoor advertising market. It is now applying its expertise toimprove situational awareness for government agencies and private facilities.
Newport Beach, CA, September 24, 2020 (PRWeb) -- Bulzi LLC, a geospatial intelligence services company, announced it was awarded a Phase-I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract by the United States Air Force (USAF) through the AFWERX innovation program. This award allows Bulzi to engage with key customers and end users in the Department of Defense (DoD) community to refine its zBeacon® Internet of Things (IoT) sensor technologies to meet their mission needs..
Bulzi’s zBeacon® technology was originally developed for the Out of Home (OOH) advertising industry to provide real-time audience count and composition metrics of consumers exposed to OOH advertising displays. The SBIR award provides a pathway for Bulzi to refine its zBeacon® product line to meet the needs of the base security market, as well as other government and commercial security applications.
According to Bulzi’s Chief Executive Officer, Brent McKay, "With this SBIR award, Bulzi will work to optimize our zBeacon® Internet of Things (IoT) for base security and other situational awareness markets. zBeacon® operates as a sibling technology to our LOCALiz® data management platform, which recently received a SBIR Phase-II contract for adaptation to base security uses.”
About the AFWERX SBIR Program
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and AFWERX have partnered to streamline the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) process in an attempt to speed up the experience, broaden the pool of potential applicants, and decrease bureaucratic overhead related to harnessing commercial technology innovations for Air Force mission needs. Beginning with SBIR cycle 18.2, the Air Force has been offering 'Special' SBIR topics that are faster, leaner, and open to a broader range of innovations.

Newport Beach, CA, September 17, 2020 (PRWeb) -- Bulzi LLC, a geospatial intelligence services company, announced today that it was selectable for a Direct-to-Phase-II (D2P2) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award for the development of an Exposure Notification System (ENS) that would help combat the spread of COVID-19. The United States Air Force (USAF) selected Bulzi through its AFWERX innovation program as a part of the 20.R cycle which was focused on identifying a broad range of potential COVID solutions.
Bulzi’s proposed ENS solution is based on a privacy-preserving system co-developed by Apple and Google. The Bulzi solution would allow consumers to be quickly notified if they were exposed to a person who has contracted COVID-19,including a person who they may not know directly. See www.google.com/covid19/exposurenotifications for more information on Google’s ENS solution, and covid19.apple.com/contacttracing for Apple’s.
“The ability to rapidly isolateCOVID-19 or other biological threats is critically important,” said Brent McKay,Chief Executive Officer of Bulzi. “ENS solutions have the potential to provide a dramatic impact on combatting the spread of the COVID-19 virus, but only if consumers adopt the technology at scale. This SBIR project would overcome the current scale problems by allowing national reach rather than being limited to state-by-state solutions.”
Conversion of the SBIR selection into a funded development contract will require participation from another government agency as a part of a “Cross Agency Award” structure. Bulzi is currently exploring partnerships with other public and private agencies to launch the project.

Newport Beach, CA, September 10, 2020 (PRWeb) -- Bulzi LLC, a geospatial intelligence services company, announced it has been awarded a $1.5 million Phase-II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract by the United States Air Force (USAF) through the AFWERX innovation program. This award builds upon previous Phase-I SBIR awards and will allow Bulzi to adapt its existing commercial technologies to enhance Department of Defense (DoD) base security.
The Phase-II award follows the successful completion of a Phase-I evaluation of Bulzi’s LOCALiz® data management platform for adaptation to meet USAF base security needs. LOCALiz® organizes data from Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and wide-area Geospatial data to provide services around people and things in areas of interest.
“This is a very exciting project for us,” said Brent McKay, CEO Bulzi. “Bulzi is a leader in geospatial intelligence services and, with this SBIR contract, has an opportunity to repurpose our commercial technologies and radically improve DoD base security and defense operations. It will be a game changer for the Base of the Future.”
During a previously awarded Phase-I SBIR contract, Bulzi engaged with key customers and end users in the DoD community to validate its ability to meet key mission needs. The Bulzi system demonstrated technical merit and commercial potential during the process, which led to the Phase-II award and participation from the U.S Army and Air Force branches in the project.
